FAQs
What happens in my first session at Valor?
Your first session is a relaxed conversation — no pressure, no expectations. We'll talk about what brought you in, what you'd like to work on, and which of our services might be the best fit. We offer a free initial consultation so you can meet your practitioner and ask questions before committing to anything.
How is counseling at Valor different from other practices?
Valor is one of the only practices in Longmont that brings together licensed professional counseling, clinical hypnotherapy, and board-certified holistic nursing under one roof. This means you can address your mental health, emotional wellbeing, and physical wellness as a connected whole — with practitioners who collaborate on your care.
What is a holistic nurse, and what do they do?
A board-certified holistic nurse (HN-BC) addresses your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing together — not just symptoms in isolation. At Valor, our holistic nurse Autumn integrates wellness coaching, stress management, and whole-person health strategies alongside the counseling and hypnotherapy services our team provides
What is hypnotherapy, and how does it work?
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help you access a calm, receptive state of mind. At Valor, our certified clinical hypnotherapist (CCHT) uses this state to help you explore emotions, change unhelpful patterns, and support healing. Sessions are always conversational and client-led — you remain fully aware and in control throughout.
What is EMDR therapy and who is it for?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy used to help people process and heal from trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and distressing memories. Jason, our licensed professional counselor (LPC), is trained in EMDR and works with clients who have experienced trauma of all kinds.
Do you accept insurance, for counseling?
Yes. Please contact us directly for current insurance information. We are happy to discuss self-pay rates, sliding scale availability, and whether we can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement through your insurance plan. We also have pricing available for Hypnotherapy and Holistic Nursing that are not reimbursed by insurance.
Do you offer telehealth/online sessions?
Yes. We offer both in-person sessions at our Longmont office (350 Terry St Suite 200) and telehealth sessions for clients throughout Colorado. Contact us to discuss which option works best for you.
How do I make an appointment?
